A Biopsychosocial Spiritual Approach to Supporting People With I/DD and Complex Needs

This is an in-person training and attendees will earn 5 CE contact hours.
People with I/DD and other neurodevelopmental disorders (autism, ADHD, etc.) have complex needs that can be compounded by trauma. When this is complicated by mental illness, the effects of a pandemic, a staffing crisis, and other co-occurring medical issues, the lens through which support is given can be shifted. Without building an understanding of specific needs, staff may see the person with I/DD as the problem, instead of seeing them as HAVING a problem.
This workshop will provide practical tools and techniques to take us back to basics and allow us to create and provide services and supports through a biopsychosocial spiritual lens, addressing the needs of the WHOLE person, thus allowing for more involvement by the person with I/DD in their own care.
Social Work Continuing Education Information
Attendees will earn 5 social work CE contact hours.
Young Adult Institute, Inc. (YAI) is recognized by the New York State Education Department's State Board for Social Work as an approved provider of continuing education for licensed social workers #SW-0171.
The New York State Education Department’s State Board for Social Work requires all registrants to attend the entire training in order to receive the Social Work CE hours.
If you are not licensed in New York, please check with your state to determine if these credits will be accepted for licensing renewal.
Cancellation Policy
If a cancellation is received 14 days prior to a scheduled training, a refund will be provided. Participants who cancel their enrollment less than 14 days but more than 5 days prior to a training will not be refunded but given credit toward a future training. Cancellation less than 5 days prior will result in no refund or credit.
No-Show Policy
No credit or refund will be provided if a registered participant does not attend a training.
YAI Knowledge reserves the right to cancel a training due to low enrollment numbers. Registrants will be notified at least two business days prior to the scheduled training.
