A Thematic Approach to Teaching People With I/DD

This course qualifies for 6 CTLE contact hours

Learn how to teach people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) through the use of themes to connect and integrate different activities throughout the day.

This training course will teach you: ​

• How to facilitate fun and engaging person-centered activities
• How to view and use your environment in a creative way
• How to increase the interest and participation of the people you support

Be prepared to be challenged, mentally stimulated, and armed with tools to implement changes with the people you support to eliminate boredom and refusals while increasing fun, curiosity, participation, and learning!

Continuing Teachers and Leader Education Info

This course qualifies for 6 CTLE contact hours through YAI's affiliation with Manhattan Star Academy.

Manhattan Star Academy is recognized by the New York State Education Department's Office of Teaching Initiatives as an approved provider of CTLE for Professional Classroom Teachers, School Leaders, and Level III Teaching Assistants, #23724.​

The New York State Education Department requires all registrants to attend the entire training to receive the CTLE hours.

If you are not licensed in New York, please check with your state to determine if these credits will be accepted for certification renewal.

Cancellation Policy 

If a cancellation is received 14 days prior to a scheduled training, a refund will be provided. Participants who cancel their enrollment less than 14 days but more than 5 days prior to a training will not be refunded but given credit toward a future training. Cancellation less than 5 days prior will result in no refund or credit.

No-Show Policy 

No credit or refund will be provided if a registered participant does not attend a training.  

YAI Knowledge reserves the right to cancel a training due to low enrollment numbers. Registrants will be notified at least two business days prior to the scheduled training.
