The Bronx Intensive Training program relaunched this October after first starting in early 2020 and halting because of the pandemic.

The two-day training for new staff in the borough covered a wide range of topics from the history of the Bronx region, foundations of professional standards, overview of clinical diagnoses, principles of foundational teaching, nursing-related topics, coping strategies/effective communication, and progressive discipline.

“As the Bronx moves from good to great and is now striving for excellence, reinstating the Bronx Intensive Training program is one of the ways to ensure that our workforce receives the knowledge and skills needed to provide support at the highest level,” said Yvonne Patrick, Bronx Regional Director. “Thank you to Darnell and the YAI Knowledge team for their commitment to getting this training back on track."

The training program was attended by 10 new staff members.

“We support a dynamic group of people with medical and behavioral needs and we hope this training gives new staff the additional techniques to help them cope with the stress and take care of their mental health first,” said Darnell Michaels, Hudson Valley/Bronx Regional Training Manager.

The training is expected to take place every other month.
