CA START (Systemic, Therapeutic, Assessment, Resources & Treatment) San Andreas recently provided emotional support and psycho-education information to three vaccination clinics in the area. The program will be supporting a total of nine vaccination clinics in the coming weeks.
A total of 1,100 people have been vaccinated in the first three clinics, mostly people served by the regional centers and their families who now have access to the vaccine. An additional 300-500 vaccines are expected to be distributed in each of the remaining six clinics the CA START San Andreas team will be visiting.
“There is not a feeling like it. There’s been so many shared hugs and tears from family,” said Chasity Swartzel, START San Andreas Program Director. “They are finally reaching a moment where their loved one is safe and can reconnect with the community and it provides some sort of normalcy, and it also gives us a chance to get back into the community as an agency.”
CA START is on hand at the individual clinics throughout the duration of the day and jump in at any time to give support to people who are experiencing anxiety or fear about getting vaccinated.
