Stephanie Rowley, a longtime East Setauket IRA resident, was recently recognized with a special volunteer award for her contributions to Long Island’s recruitment events at Brentwood Day Hab. The 48-year-old has played an integral role in welcoming and guiding potential new hires, strengthening the sense of community within YAI.

Rowley was presented with the award by Andrej Drofenik, the recruiting manager on Long Island, just before the January 9 recruitment event—a moment she describes as both unexpected and deeply meaningful.

"I was completely surprised and almost cried," Rowley said. “The sense of community and giving back to the YAI family really motivates me to keep doing what I do.”

Since 2010, Rowley has volunteered at recruitment events, where she reconnects with former colleagues and supports the hiring process by distributing applications and signing in attendees. But for her, the role is much more than just supporting HR—it’s a way to give back to the community that has given her so much.

"I am immensely proud that YAI recognized Stephanie,” said Drofenik. “It has been great getting to know her over the years, and the recruitment team is lucky to have her continued support. Her dedication not only strengthens the Long Island region but also exemplifies YAI's mission."

Beyond her work with recruitment, Rowley has also taken on an active leadership role at her residence. Living alongside five housemates, she has become involved in the hiring process for DSPs, conducting interviews and leading house tours for prospective staff. This unique involvement has given her a deep sense of pride and ownership in shaping the care and support at her home.
