Join the National Institute for People with Disabilities of New Jersey's  (NIPD/NJ) Wine & Shine, An Evening of Magical Music, from 7-10 p.m., on Thursday, Sept. 18, at Hackensack University Medical Center's Joseph & Pam Simunovich Palm Court. NIPD/NJ is a YAI network member.

Music will be provided by two talented people with disabilities. Paul DeSavino, a classically-trained pianist with autism who lives in an NIPD/NJ residence, will join Jodi DiPiazzo, a young girl with autism, who performed with Katy Perry during Comedy Central's "Night of Too Many Stars" benefit for autism education.  The evening will also feature a performance by Paul Han, a young tenor who is a graduate student at Rutgers University. Han played the lead role in "La Traviata," presented by the Prelude Performance of the Martina Arroyo Foundation, which prepares its young singers for the art of opera, free of charge.

Longtime NIPD/NJ Board Chairman Charles (Chuck) Dombeck will be honored for his commitment and dedication to people with developmental disabilities, their families, and the NIPD/NJ staff. An Allendale, N.J., resident, Dombeck also served 23 years as a member of YAI's Board of Trustees and served as Chairman of YAI's Business Advisory Council. He is no stranger to local organizations, where he volunteers his time as President and Captain of the Allendale Ambulance Corps, Vice President of the Allendale Recreation Commission, and President of the Allendale Board of Education.

Westwood Mayor John Birkner, Jr., New Jersey Assemblywoman Holly Schepisi (39th District) and state Senator Loretta Weinberg are expected to attend.

The state has selected NIPD/NJ to create two new four-person residences for individuals who are non-ambulatory and are being relocated from state developmental centers. The new residences will be in Westwood and Garfield. The homes are expected to open in 2015.
