Entrepreneur and CEO Ryan Lee (left) meets with visitors from Tarrytown day hab.

Ever since Tarrytown day habilitation (day hab) program launched its art studio in the fall of 2021, Ken Reedy and the rest of the day hab’s staff have been looking for opportunities for the program’s entrepreneurial participants to gain new skills and deepen their knowledge on how to promote themselves as working artists. Back in October, Reedy facilitated a meeting between Luz Macias and Lavette Poinsette, day hab participants, and Ryan Lee, an entrepreneur and the CEO of Rewind—a company that makes green juices and supplements to promote health.

For Macias and Poinsette, both of whom want to sell art and create their own brands, the meeting was highly motivating.

“I can’t wait to meet with Ryan again!” said Macias. “He taught me what a CTA (call to action) is and why it is important to my business.”

Lee was also inspired by the day, noting that both women have already started implementing some of his feedback.

“I’m a firm believer that adults with I/DD [intellectual and developmental disabilities] should be exposed to all the amazing businesses and opportunities in the community to show them what’s possible,” Lee said. “The more local business owners can closely interact with these incredible humans and experience their heart, warmth, kindness, and work ethic, they’ll want to do even more to support them. It’s a win/win for everyone.”
