Gary Milchman

Chief Program Officer

Gary began his career at YAI in 1998 and since then has played a key role in expanding the organization’s services, including the transition of day service program from large facility-based services to Without walls and community-based services. Gary got his start as a Day Services Coordinator before becoming Regional Director of Manhattan in 2017. In 2021, he was promoted to Senior Regional Director, where he now oversees operations in Manhattan, New Jersey, and international consulting projects. He was promoted to Chief Program Officer where he oversees program operations across New York and New Jersey for YAI. He is particularly interested in developing behavioral health services and supporting de-institutionalization abroad. He enjoys finding new ways to meet the self-directed needs of people with I/DD. Gary holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Rhode Island and a master’s degree and a Master of Education from Columbia University in Psychology.
