CUNY School of Law Disability & Aging Justice Clinic

Share

The Disability and Aging Justice Clinic (formerly known as the Elder Law Clinic) advocates to enhance and promote the civil rights, autonomy, and self-determination of older adults and people with disabilities through direct legal representation, estate planning, public policy advocacy, and community outreach and education. Although the Clinic’s work serves older adults, case and project work is based on legal issues rather than chronological age. DAJC represents people of all ages and their families with legal issues related to aging, incapacity, mortality, and the possibility of deportation. They represent clients pro bono and are interested in advocacy concerning a variety of areas including:

  • housing security
  • discrimination
  • prisoners' rights and requesting reasonable accommodations
  • access to government benefits
  • the rights of immigrants with disabilities in detention
  •  opposition to guardianship
  • OWPDD appeals
