NY Lawyers for the Public Interest (NYLPI)

NY Lawyers for the Public Interest (NYLPI)’s Disability Justice Program works to promote and protect the civil rights of people with disabilities, advocating for better programs and policies in public schools, less restrictive residential opportunities, and access to public services and all venues across New York City. To achieve these ends, their team of attorneys, advocates, and organizers engages in impact litigation, advocates for systemic change and provides trainings for people with disabilities and their families.

NYLPI also protects and promotes the educational rights of students with disabilities in New York City. Their attorneys and advocates use a variety of approaches to ensure that students with disabilities have access to a free appropriate public education and to the full spectrum of programs and activities that the New York City Department of Education has to offer.
