Community Habilitation

Community Habilitation (Com Hab) at YAI supports children and adults who live alone or with their families. Trained Com Hab specialists focus on helping people build skills needed for independent living, working on skills like grocery shopping, cooking, banking, laundry, communication, and daily decision-making. Because it is an individualized program, Com Hab encourages the exploration of each person’s unique hobbies and passions by supporting a range of activities in and around the community.

Com Hab is provided in the Bronx, Brooklyn, Manhattan, Queens, Long Island, and Hudson Valley to people with OPWDD eligibility ages 13+.
