For one weekend only, YAI Arts is hosting "Clown-A-Palooza," a wild and beautiful pop-up show. YAI artists dived into their fantasies, nightmares, and childhood traumas to craft clowns that are goofy, sneaky, and a little bit mischievous.

The show is the first in-person gallery exhibition for most of the artists since the pandemic. Many said they were eager to put together an experience that creates a space where fear and fantasy collide.

“Being a clown is like being an artist, in a way,” said Jimmy Tucker, a YAI artist. “They have a passion and they express it.”

"When we are creative, we see just how powerful we are. We can transform our realities and ourselves," said Priscilla Frank, YAI Arts Studio Manager. "When we work in community, we see that we are all connected and important and of course, we have tons of fun!"

The exhibition will run from May 20-22 at Allouche Gallery at 24 2nd Ave. The opening will be Friday, May 20 from 6-9 pm. All are welcome and work by YAI artists will be available for purchase at the show.

“When people see this clown show they will feel the clowns cheering them up," said Christine Buda, a YAI artist. "I think clowns are important because they do tricks to make people laugh and put people in good moods."
